A Typical Reflexology Session with Maggie
At your first session you will be asked to complete a brief health history. This gives Maggie a glimpse of past and present health issues and considerations and will guide her to the amount of pressure and focus of your session.
You will then remove your footwear and relax in a special reclining chair that puts your feet in the perfect position to receive reflexology. Or you may prefer lying on a massage table. Either way you will experience the far infrared rays, negative ions and amethyst of The BioMat underneath you.
The session begins with a series of relaxing techniques akin to foot massage. On and off pressure is then applied to every square inch of your feet using the thumb and forefinger. You may drift into an alpha state - a place between wakefulness and sleep. And you may feel delightful sensations in other parts of your body.
During the session you may chat, or close your eyes and "go somewhere else." You are encouraged to ask questions at any time before, during, or after your session.
A typical session lasts about an hour. Regular sessions are recommended to maintain balance and frequent sessions initially are recommended for clients who are addressing specific health issues.
After Your Session
During, immediately after, and up to a few days after a reflexology session you may feel some of the following: energized, lighter, a sense of floating, a reduction of pain or freedom from pain, a quiet sense of well-being,more restful sleep, increased elimination functions, and always more relaxed.
Contraindications
Reflexology is very safe. Maggie gears her sessions to the client's comfort. Only contagious rashes like athlete's foot or serious injuries of feet or hands prohibit direct reflexology. However, working on the hand or foot on the same side of the body as the injured one, would speed the healing process. |
